Who are we?
Expedition Agaguk is the story of Gilles Chagnon's dream (education in History teaching). After having, for many seasons, travelled all over the St. Lawrence River's North-Shore in his sea kayak, Gilles chooses to settle in Havre Saint-Pierre in 1994 to share his passion of the open air, the fauna, the flora, the history and the geology of the North-Shore with people visiting the region.
Following the successes of his first seasons guiding visitors in sea kayaks, Gilles is joined by Dominic Benoit, wild life management technician and childhood friend. Dominic's dynamic contribution will bring a new life into the Company thus allowing diversification of its operations and most important, satisfy the growing demand created by the rush of enthusiastic sea kayakers visiting the North Shore.
From 1999, the workload becomes colossal and Expedition Agaguk needs more guides. It is during this hectic period that Pierre St-Hilaire, wild life management technician, joins the team with the result that Expedition Agaguk can continue to forge ahead.
Since then, Expedition Agaguk's team keeps on growing. We can henceforth count on many other guides, of which Jérôme Boudreau and Michel Grégoire, both specialized in nature interpretation, and Nancy Lavoie, our guide biologist. Their qualified training and competent work allow us, as of now, to plan year long expeditions on the Lower North Shore, Anticosti Island and Mingan Archipelago. We are determined to rest on our team's strengths to keep on providing daring expeditions, customized to our guests' needs of adventure and liberty and which they will be able to enjoy with complete confidence.
